Pagerie has four harnesses to date: The Babbi Harness, together with The Colombo Harness were the debut objects included in the Sahara Collection. A year later came The Simone Harness under the Les Arcs collection which launched in the Summer of 2022. As a final treat, The Petite Harness was released at the end of 2022.

Pagerie Harnesses are designed to highlight our companions' sleek and solid build. As horses trotted alongside the great and the good, inspiration struck. These animals rode everywhere with their companions, with their noble sleek lines and muscled curvatures. Today, we are accompanied by another equally graceful presence: our dogs. Thus, they deserve accessories to showcase their true grace.

Harness: Choices on the market

A harness should be selected based on your canine companions’ anatomy and the activities it will be performing. Harnesses tailored to particular breeds do not exist.

Dog harnesses for walks and lead training come in four varieties. Among the many types are:

1: Classic Harnesses with back clips

2: Chest Harnesses with front clips

3: Harnesses with two clips

4: Harnesses for stepping in

In addition to the variety of dog harnesses available, you can use alternative methods to get your dog to wear one. The most common type of dog harness has a single loop around your dog's ribs and another around his neck. Most standard dog harnesses have a thick D-ring on the back where you can attach your leash.

To determine the exact size of your dog's harness, measure the circumference of the dog's chest at its highest point and around the back, just behind the front legs. You must also measure the lower part of its neck. Please add an additional 1.5cm for comfort.

How to put on a PAGERIE harness on your dog

THE SIMONE HARNESS

The Simone Harness is a classic chest harness, since the strap connects horizontally to the shoulders, this counts as a classic chest harness, whereby you measure your dog’s lower neck and thickest chest girth to get the right measurements. Harnesses of this kind are designed specifically to guard the dog's blood vessels around the neck area, and their respiratory system.

It is also classified as a dual-clip harness which means it comes with D-rings at the front and back for versatility on how you attach your leash. Use the front D-ring for a casual walk outdoors, or the back one for when greater control is needed.

HERE'S NOW TO GET YOUR DOG INTO THE SIMONE HARNESS:

Step 1: Start by standing or kneeling behind your dog.

Step 2: Take your dog's harness and slip the neck loop over your dog's head until it rests on their lower neck.

Step 3: Adjust the chest strap with the buckle for a comfortable fit. The chain with the O-ring on the harness must also preferably be placed directly over your dog's back.

When finished, your dog's legs should be in between the loops that go around their ribs and around their neck.

THE BABBI HARNESS

The Babbi Harness is modelled after the English saddle thus it is not classified as a particular common type of harness listed above. For the perfect fit, measure your dog’s neck and chest girth to select between Small, Medium or Large.

HERE'S NOW TO GET YOUR DOG INTO THE BABBI HARNESS:

Step 1: Stand behind your dog, and place the harness with the pear-shaped turnlock directly at the centre of their back.

Step 2: Loop the straps under their belly, and bring the front strap to meet at the lower part of the neck. Fasten this carefully, leaving 1.5cm for comfort.

Step 3: Bring the lower strap under their front two legs and fasten this too.

When finished, your dog's legs should be in between the loops that go around their ribs and around their neck.

THE COLOMBO HARNESS

An exclusive one of a kind, non-classified, harness from the Sahara collection. Your dog gets extra air ventilation thanks to the distinctive ‘peek-a-boo' cut-out on the back. D-Rings are available on both shoulder blades. Please note the turn-lock design at the back of the harness is not to be used to attach a leash but it is placed there for design purposes.

HERE'S NOW TO GET YOUR DOG INTO THE COLOMBO HARNESS:

Step 1: Once again, start from a standing or kneeling position, behind your dog.

Step 2: Place the designed pear-shaped turnover over the centre of their back.

Step 3: Bring the sides under the dog’s chest

Step 4: Ensure the harness is securely locked at the turnlock on the back

Step 5: Snap rivets on each side and make sure to adjust the harness buckles if needed so that it fits securely but not too tightly on your dog.

THE PETITE HARNESS

A classic harness designed for smaller pets (cats and dogs) in which you can measure your pet’s neck and largest section of their chest (girth) to select between XS, S or M. The Petite is a dual-clip harness that allows pet owners to attach the leash to either the back clip or the front clip.

The Petite Harness also features three D-rings and a side-release buckle for ease.

HERE'S NOW TO GET YOUR DOG INTO THE PETITE HARNESS:

Step 1: Place your pet carefully in front of you.

Step 2: Start by bringing the longer straps around their back and under their belly to fasten the side-buckle.

Step 3: Next, bring one of the straps around their neck and you will need to fasten both sides adjusting the buckle at a comfortable fit - leaving 2-finger space between the neck fitting.

Pagerie has paired the use of stainless steel, with cow vegetable-tanned leather which is biodegradable. It is REACH-certified and therefore, follows EU guidelines on reducing harmful chemical waste. Never mass-produced, each object is the exquisite handicraft of a single craftsman, who takes between 12 and 24 hours to bring the object to life.
